Promotion to Premier Division Secured

The U17A’s made certain of promotion to the Premier Division next season with a first half performance that blew Malahide Utd away.  Celtic lost the toss and were forced to play into a strong breeze.  However, despite playing against the elements, Celtic knuckled down to the task in hand and were 1-0 up after just 15 minutes when Ciaran Buggy was in the right place to finish off some good work from Cory Power.  Power himself was to add a further 2 before half time to bring his total for the season to 16.

Despite having the advantage of a strong breeze at their backs in the second half the floodgates didn’t open.  However, Celtic had the vast majority of the possession throughout and passed Malahide off the pitch.

With just minutes remaining, Captain, David Hickey rounded off a man of the match performance when he headed home a pin point accurate corner from dead ball specialist,Tom Fitzsimons.

Although promotion has been secured, with 2 league games remaining there is still a lot to play for.  If the team win both games then they will, at the very least be in a play-off for the title.  Next game at home on Wednesday against Drogheda Marsh Crescent in Porterstown at 6:45pm -  All support welcome.
