Castleknock Celtic U14A travelled to Leixlip United to play their first league game of the new season. Under new management and with players mixed up from two Celtic teams from last season, this was going to be a tough test.
From the start of the match Celtic went all guns blazing and attacked their opponents without mercy. With two big strong forwards in James Caffrey and Sean Odusole, they created a lot of problems to Leixlip defense. Attacking football paid off after only 10 minutes when ball was switched from right side to the unmarked Klevis Malaj who placed the ball in top left corner from edge of the box. Soon after that Sean Odusole was put through one on one with goalkeeper and coolly put the ball behind his back for 2-0.
Celtic continued creating chances with their midfield three Dino Dervisic, Ciaran Murray and Alex McCormick who linked up brilliantly in their first match together. One of these chances led up to Brendan Stangu making great run into the box and won penalty which was put away by Klevis Malay for his second of the game 3-0.
Leixlip tried to reply but couldn't break Celtic's excellent defense masterminded by Sam Doherty and Proinsas De Bhutain. Man of the match performance by left back Kacem Touhiri was not his first as he had so many of them. With not much defending to do he provided extra support in attack and alongside other full back Liam Hosford was a driving force in Celtic's attacking football.
Second half started same as the first. Extra security was provided by Olti Berisha and Robert Best in the midfield who made sure that nothing went Leixlip's way.
Halfway through the second half Celtic increased their lead after a great solo run from James Caffrey who played through ball to Brendan Stangu who put itl in the bottom left corner for 4-0.
James Caffrey finally got his goal that was well deserved after he headed in a well taken corner from Dino Dervisic to make it 5-0. It's important to mention Sabin Ghet who didn't have much to do in goal but still stayed alert when he was called into the action.
